Thomas Jay Ryan is best known for playing the title role in Hal Hartleyís HENRY FOOL trilogy (including the concluding chapter NED RIFLE which premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival). His film output over the last fifteen years has included appearances in such movies as Michel Gondryís ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, Craig Lucasí THE DYING GAUL, Robert Redfordís THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE, Jimmy Boltonís DREAM BOY, Lynn Hershman-Leesonís TEKNOLUST and STRANGE CULTURE (in which he starred opposite Tilda Swinton).
He plays Stan in A.D. Calvoís THE MISSING GIRL, and will be seen next year in Drake Daramusí futuristic love story EQUALS. His many television credits include such shows as NURSE JACKIE, ELEMENTARY, WONDERLAND, and the HBO telefilm DEGAS AND THE DANCER (for which he was nominated for a Gemini Award). Highlights of his long and varied theater career include the original Broadway production of Sarah Ruhlís IN THE NEXT ROOM OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY and Jon Maranís historical drama THE TEMPERAMENTALS (for which he won a Drama Desk Award).
